After breakfast, depart early from Queenstown and begin your scenic alpine drive towards Aoraki / Mount Cook. Travel along the beautiful South Island landscapes, passing dramatic mountain roads, valleys, and lakes.

Continue to Aoraki Mount Cook Airport and check in for your helicopter experience. Enjoy a spectacular glacier helicopter ride with breathtaking aerial views of snow-covered peaks, deep valleys, blue ice formations, and the Tasman Glacier. 

After the helicopter ride, proceed towards Mount Cook Village and enjoy a short visit to the Hooker Valley Track area. You may walk the first 30–45 minutes of the trail to experience the alpine landscape and see the famous swing bridges, depending on time and weather conditions. Later, drive towards Lake Tekapo and check in to your hotel. In the evening, visit the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd by the lakeside, especially beautiful around sunset.

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Lake Tekapo and spend some relaxed time around the lake before starting your journey towards Christchurch.

Begin your drive towards Christchurch, passing through the beautiful Mackenzie Country landscapes, open farmlands, and charming small towns. En route, you may stop at Fairlie for a coffee break or local bakery snacks, followed by Geraldine, a lovely countryside town known for boutique shops, cafés, and a relaxed village atmosphere. Continue the drive through Ashburton and the Canterbury Plains before arriving in Christchurch by evening. Check in to your hotel and relax after the journey. ChristchurchNZ notes Lake Tekapo is around 285 km from Christchurch, with an approximate driving time of 3.5 hours depending on route and stops.

Enjoy interactive exhibits that showcase life in Antarctica, experience the indoor Antarctic storm room, learn about polar research, and see the little blue penguins at the Penguin Rescue Centre. You can also enjoy the exciting Hägglund ride, which gives a fun simulation of the all-terrain vehicles used in Antarctic conditions.

Later, continue with a relaxed local exploration of Christchurch. Visit the beautiful Christchurch Botanic Gardens, stroll around the Avon River, and explore the city centre area with its cafés, boutique stores, and modern architecture. You may also visit Riverside Market for local food, coffee, and shopping, or enjoy a peaceful walk around Cathedral Square and the nearby streets. After a pleasant day discovering the charm of Christchurch, return to your hotel and relax for the evening.
